Bordeaux as a university town

Bordeaux is a city in southwestern France, located on the banks of the Garonne River. It has a population of around 260,000, and more than a million in its metropolitan area. Renowned for its UNESCO-listed architectural heritage, it has a long tradition as a commercial and cultural center.

The city is home to a number of higher education establishments, including the University of Bordeaux, which offers courses in science, law, economics, humanities, medicine and engineering. Other institutions include KEDGE Business School, Sciences Po Bordeaux and schools of architecture, art and design.

Every year, more than 100,000 French and international students come to study here. Bordeaux has university libraries, laboratories, student residences and services dedicated to foreign students.

On the leisure front, the city offers cinemas, theaters, concert halls and museums such as the Musée d’Aquitaine and the Cité du Vin. Parks such as the Jardin Public and Parc Bordelais are popular with young people. Atlantic beaches and the Landes de Gascogne nature park are within easy reach.
